About this tool
Convert fuel economy between liters per 100 kilometers, miles per US gallon, miles per UK (imperial) gallon and kilometers per liter. L/100km measures fuel used per distance, so lower is better, while MPG and km/L measure distance per fuel, so higher is better. That makes the conversion inverse rather than a simple multiplication. The tool converts through L/100km using 235.214583 for US MPG and 282.480936 for UK MPG. The two MPG options differ by about 20% because the UK gallon is larger than the US gallon. Results show up to 8 decimals.

Common problems
- UK and US MPG numbers differ
- Always pick the right gallon. The same car shows a higher MPG in UK terms: 30 US MPG is about 36 UK MPG.
- Zero shows a dash
- Zero MPG or km/L would mean infinite consumption, so the result is not shown. Enter a value above zero.
