About this tool
Convert pace, the time taken per distance, between minutes per kilometer (min/km), minutes per mile (min/mi), seconds per meter (s/m), seconds per kilometer (s/km) and minutes per 400 meters (min/400m, a standard track lap). Runners use it to compare a metric race plan with a mile-based watch. Enter pace as a decimal, so 5 minutes 30 seconds is 5.5, not 5.30. The result is shown as a decimal and, for the minute-based units, also as minutes:seconds, so 8.04672 min/mi is shown with (8:02.8) beside it. Conversions pass through seconds per meter, using 1,609.344 meters per mile. This converts pace only, not speed in km/h.

Common problems
- Entering 5:30 as 5.30
- Pace is entered as a decimal. Convert seconds to a fraction of a minute: 30 seconds is 0.5, so use 5.5.
- Which number is the m:ss value?
- The value in brackets, like (8:02.8), is minutes:seconds. It appears for min/km, min/mi and min/400m results.
- I need speed in km/h
- This tool converts pace. For speed, divide 60 by the min/km value.
