Gamepad Tester

Test a game controller in your browser: buttons, triggers, sticks, drift and vibration.

Runs in your browser Your input never leaves your device.

No controller found. Connect one and press any button on it: browsers hide a controller until it is used.

Buttons light up when pressed (triggers show how far). Sticks show their position, and a value near 0 at rest shows if a stick drifts. Vibration works only on controllers and browsers that support it.

About this tool

Plug in or pair a controller and press any button on it: browsers show a controller to a page only after it has been used. The page then shows every button, with analog triggers filling in as you press them, and every pair of axes as a stick with a dot and its numbers. When a stick is let go, its numbers should be close to zero: a value that stays away from zero (say 0.10 or more) is stick drift. If the controller supports it, the Test vibration button runs the motors for half a second. The tester works with Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch Pro and most generic USB or Bluetooth controllers that your browser supports through the Gamepad API; the buttons are named B0, B1 and so on, in the order the browser reports them (on a controller with the standard mapping, B0 to B3 are the face buttons, B4 and B5 the shoulder buttons, B6 and B7 the triggers, and B12 to B15 the directional pad). Several controllers can be shown at once. Everything is read locally; nothing about your controller is sent anywhere. Everything runs in your browser and nothing is sent anywhere.

How to use it

  1. Connect the controller.
  2. Press any button so the browser reveals it.
  3. Press every button and move the sticks.
  4. Let go of the sticks and check that they return to zero.

Common problems

No controller found
Press a button on the controller after the page has loaded, check the cable or Bluetooth pairing, and try another browser if it still does not appear.
The buttons have unexpected numbers
Controllers without the standard mapping report buttons in their own order. The numbers shown are what the browser receives.
There is no vibration button
Vibration through the browser is supported only for some controllers and browsers.
