About this tool

Join two or more images into one picture, either stacked vertically or placed side by side. Choose Direction, how Sizes are handled, a Gap in pixels and a Background color, and the result updates in the preview. With Match (the default) every image is scaled to the same width when stacked, or the same height in a row, keeping its proportions, so there are no empty bars; Keep original sizes places images as they are, centered, and fills any empty space with the background color. The list above the preview shows the images in order with buttons to move each up or down or remove it, and you can add more images at any time. The merged image downloads as a PNG named after the first image. If the result would be too large for the browser you get a message instead. Everything is drawn in your browser and nothing is uploaded.

How to use it

  1. Select two or more images.
  2. Choose Vertical or Horizontal.
  3. Set a gap and background color if you want.
  4. Press Download.

Match or Keep original sizes

Match, vertical
Every image is scaled to the width of the widest image, keeping its proportions. Narrower images are enlarged, so a small image next to a big one can look soft.
Match, horizontal
Every image is scaled to the height of the tallest image, keeping its proportions.
Keep original sizes
No image is scaled. Each one is centered in the column or row and the background color fills the space around the smaller ones.

Common layouts

Before and after
Horizontal, Match, a gap of 10 to 20 px and a white background. Both pictures end up the same height.
Long screenshot
Vertical, Match, gap 0. The tool does not detect overlapping parts, so crop repeated areas first with the Image Cropper.
Grid or collage
There is no grid mode. Merge each row horizontally and download it, then load the rows and merge them vertically.

Size limits and file size

Each image you add can be up to 50 MB and 100 megapixels. The merged picture can be at most 16,384 pixels on a side and 100 megapixels in total; above that the tool shows a message instead of a preview.

The result is a lossless PNG, so merged photos give a large file. Convert it with PNG to JPG or shrink it with the Image Compressor if you need to upload it somewhere with a size limit.

Common problems

Images are different sizes
With Sizes set to Match they are scaled to the same width or height automatically. Choose Keep original sizes to leave them as they are.
Wrong order
Use the up and down buttons next to each image in the list to change the order, or the cross to remove one.
Very large result
Many big photos make a huge canvas, and browsers limit canvas size. Merge fewer or smaller images.

Frequently asked questions

Are my images uploaded?

No. The images are combined on a canvas in your browser and the PNG is created on your device.

Does merging lower the quality?

With Keep original sizes no image is resized. With Match, smaller images are scaled up to the largest width or height, which can make them softer. The output is PNG, which adds no compression loss.

Can I merge more than two images?

Yes. Add as many as you like, in one go or a few at a time, and reorder them with the up and down buttons. The only limit is the final size of the merged picture.
