Meta tags for your page
The size 1200 × 630 pixels (ratio 1.91:1) is what Facebook, LinkedIn, X and most chat apps show as a large link preview. Keep the important text inside the middle: some apps crop the edges. Upload the picture to your site and put its full web address in og:image.

About this tool
When someone shares a link, Facebook, LinkedIn, X, Slack, WhatsApp and others show a large preview picture taken from the page's og:image tag. A page without one gets a small thumbnail or none, and gets fewer clicks. This tool draws such a picture for you: type the title and an optional subtitle and site name, choose a layout (title on the left, centred, colour band or big badge), a colour theme and a font, add your logo if you wish, and download it as a PNG or as a smaller JPG. The size is 1200 × 630 pixels, the 1.91:1 ratio that these services use for large previews; the title is made smaller automatically until it fits in four lines, and ends with an ellipsis if it is still too long, so nothing runs off the edge. Under the picture you get the matching meta tags (og:title, og:description, og:image with its size, and the twitter:card tags for summary_large_image) with the web address of your image filled in; upload the picture to your site, enter its full address and paste the tags in the head of your page. Keep important words away from the edges, because some apps crop the picture. The fonts are the ones on your device (sans-serif, serif or monospace), so a design made here looks as it does on your screen. We tested the text fitting on 400 random texts, including very long words, Japanese text and emoji, and the page in a browser: the downloaded files are 1200 × 630 pixels, and the logo and the colours appear where expected. After publishing, check your page with the social meta checker, because services keep a copy of the old preview for some time. The picture is drawn in your browser and nothing is uploaded.
How to use it
- Type the title, subtitle and site name.
- Choose the layout, colours and font, and add a logo if you like.
- Download the PNG or JPG and upload it to your site.
- Enter the web address of the picture and copy the meta tags into your page.
Common problems
- The preview does not change after I publish
- Services keep a copy of the old picture. Use the sharing debugger of the service to refresh it, or change the file name of the image.
- The title is cut off with …
- It was too long for four lines. Shorten it: the best share titles are under 70 characters.
- The font looks different on another computer
- The picture is a PNG or JPG, so it looks the same everywhere once saved. The fonts only differ when you make it on another device.
