About this tool
Enter a URL and our server fetches the page and reads the tags that social platforms, chat apps and search engines use to build a link preview: Open Graph (og:title, og:description, og:image, og:url, og:type), X/Twitter Card tags, the page title, meta description, canonical link and icons. It then flags what is missing, an og:image that is relative or insecure, titles that will be cut off, and a canonical that disagrees with og:url. Only the HTML a crawler receives is read. Platforms cache previews, so after fixing tags you may need their own debugger tool to refresh a stale card. The picture itself is not loaded here; only its address is shown.
How to use it
- Enter a domain or full page URL.
- Press Check tags.
- Fix the warnings, starting with missing og:image and og:title.
- Check again, then refresh the cache in each platform's debugger.
Common problems
- The preview on the platform is old
- Platforms cache link previews for days. Re-scrape the URL in the platform's sharing debugger after updating your tags.
- Tags are present but the check says they are missing
- They may be added by JavaScript after load. Crawlers and this tool read only the HTML the server sends.
- The fetch fails
- The site may block our server, time out, or sit on a private address, which is refused.
