About this tool
Choose two or more PDF files and the tool joins them into one document, with the pages of each file kept in order. Use the arrows to change the order of the files before you merge. Your file stays on your device: it is read and changed in this page and is never uploaded, so it is safe for contracts, IDs and other private documents. The merge copies the pages as they are, so text stays selectable and images keep their quality. Bookmarks, form fields and links that point inside a file may not be carried over, because they belong to the original document rather than to its pages. A PDF protected with a password cannot be merged until the password is removed. The browser has to hold every file in memory while it works, so very large sets (hundreds of megabytes) may be slow; the limits are 60 files at a time, 150 MB per file, 400 MB in all and 3,000 pages in the result. Every operation writes a new file, so digital signatures on the original no longer verify in the copy, and document properties such as title and author are not carried over.
How to use it
- Drop your PDF files on the page, or choose them.
- Use the arrows to put the files in the order you want.
- Press Merge PDFs.
- Download the merged file.
Common problems
- It says a file is password-protected
- Open it in a PDF viewer that asks for the password, print it to a new PDF or save an unprotected copy, then add that copy here.
- The merged file lost its bookmarks or form fields
- Merging copies the pages only. Document-level items such as bookmarks and form fields stay behind. Re-create the bookmarks in your PDF viewer if you need them.
- The page seems slow or stops
- Very large files use a lot of memory. Merge in smaller groups, then merge the results.
